Sondzela is the perfect place to recharge your batteries.
Set in the beautiful Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, Sondzela
offers backpackers comfortable accommodation in scenic
gardens perfectly situated with access to the
numerous activities and site-seeing opportunities that
Big Game Parks and Swaziland presents you. Sondzela is
on a private road and can only be accessed by Sondzela’s
backpacker visitors. The lodge is approximately 15 minutes
walk from the Mlilwane Rest Camp and consists of 2
houses and
12 rondavels with double and single, ample safe parking, a large
garden and camping area, swimming pool and games area.
Sondzela
is located on the sanctuary’s southern
boundary overlooking the Mhlambanyatsi Valley, offering
a stunning view of the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary and
the distant mountains whilst impala, zebra and warthog
graze in the beautiful gardens below the canopy of trees
that are visited by an abundance of birds. The lodge
is within walking distance to the Malkerns main road
and the Mahlanya Fresh Produce Market.
The
informal camping ground is situated under an impressive,
mature Eucalyptus forest. Fallen logs and a few scattered
concrete tables roughly mark out the campsites. There
is a communal ablution block nearby and electric power
points are available. Campers are requested not to leave
foodstuff in their tents
as
warthogs may raid
them.
Hlane's Ndlovu Camp has spacious
camping ground with a fair amount of grass and trees. There is a communal kitchen/laundry
and ablution block with hot running water. There is no electricity at Ndlovu
Camp, candles and lanterns provide lighting. Wood is provided for campfires and
braai areas.
In Mlilwane Rest Camp is a Timberlog complex, composed
of a dormitory
with a large
lounge and 6 individual rooms partitioned from the
main living area and a separate self-catering kitchen
and dining
area. The rooms have bunk beds and share the nearby communal
ablutions.
