Imvelo Mtb Classic Improves Community
The Imvelo MTB Classic is an annual mountain bike race
organised by Big Game Parks and sponsored primarily
by Nedbank (Swaziland) Limited. The draw cards for the
event include the challenge of the Nyonyane Mountain
and the diverse surrounding terrain, the venue being
inside Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary and the beneficiaries
being both conservation and selected community projects.
The event, held on the 14 th May 2005, attracted 302
entries (142 from over the border) and raised approximately
E16,000,00 for projects.
The Imvelo MTB Classic is made possible by the whole-hearted sponsorship by Nedbank. By sponsoring this event, Nedbank supports Nature Conservation, Communities and sport development in Swaziland. Big Game Parks organises the event and co-ordinates the associated projects, along with providing the outstanding venue and the man-power.
The positive spin off of this event has far reaching benefits. The Imvelo MTB Classic aims to:
- Increase tourism to Big Game Parks and Swaziland;
- Promote Swaziland as a destination for adventure-based
tourism;
- Improve and promote Mountain Biking as a sport;
- Raise funds for conservation and community projects
linked to Big Game Parks.
